Farewell Message from Terry

Dear Taiko Community,

On behalf of the Taiko Community Alliance (TCA) and North American Taiko Conference (NATC), I would like to express my gratitude to all who contributed to make the conference happen in Portland, Oregon.

NATC enjoyed sold-out attendance to the conference—attracting 640 attendees and over 150 community volunteers who contributed 1,800 hours of labor. Over 500 pieces of taiko equipment were sourced from West Coast taiko communities of Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; San Jose, CA; and Los Angeles, CA to accommodate experiential workshops, as well as two sold-out presentations of the keynote concert Taiko Jam. My thanks and praise go out to the Taiko Community of Portland for their assistance to TCA with hosting NATC.

I would also like to recognize attendees, workshop instructors, performers and presenters for creating a memorable NATC experience. Thanks to this showing of community support and dedication to the art form of taiko, TCA is excitedly preparing for the next NATC.

I have sincerely enjoyed working with TCA on the 2017 and 2019 NATC. These efforts had their challenges, but greater rewards.  It has been an honor to contribute to North American taiko history in the making.

With gratitude,

-Terry
